About Me

My name is Ms. Joan Buck and I will be your child's fourth grade Reading and Language Arts teacher this year. I have been teaching 15 years in Columbus County, all of which were at Acme Delco Elementary.  I would like to take this opportunity to tell you a few things about myself.

I have been a residence of Columbus County for 21 years and I reside in Riegelwood with my two boys, Anthony and Christopher.  Anthony will attend his last year at Acme Delco Middle School and Christopher will attend 5th grade here at Hallsboro Artesia Elementary.  I received my Bachelor's degree in Elementary Education from UNCW and my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from Grand Canyon University.

I am originally from Cape May, New Jersey.  My father was in the United States Coast Guard so I moved to North Carolina when I was sixteen. I attended my junior year at Pamlico High School in Bayboro, North Carolina. My family then moved to Atlantic Beach where I attended and graduated from West Carteret High School in Morehead City, North Carolina. After graduating high school, I moved back to New Jersey until 1995.

I believe ALL children can learn and I will hold high expectations for your child.  I want every student to succeed.  Together we can accomplish this goal.  Please feel free to contact me with any concerns you may have.

I am excited to be a part of the Hallsboro Artesia Elementary faculty and staff and I am looking forward to a great year!
